Boldykova & Karl claim victory

World Cup leader Karl clinched his third consecutive victory on the 610 meter long Stoneham course, when he edged out compatriot Andreas Prommegger in the men´s big final.

With only four gates to clear and nothing between the two riders Prommegger was "thrown" off the line.

Prommmeger said "I hit a bump which took me out.  But I had to risk everything in order to keep my chance for victory."

With his seventh World Cup career win, Karl underlined his credentials as the favourite to take gold in the Vancouver Olympics.

Karl also ended a run of four Canadian victories in this event.

Canada´s Jasey Jay Anderson took third by crossing the finish line ahead of Switzerland´s Marc Iselin in the small final.

Boldykova cruised to victory in the women´s big final after fellow-Russian Alena Zavarzina tumbled leaving the start gate.

Nathalie Desmares of France rounded out the podium.

Switzerland´s Fraenzi Maegert-Kohli settled for fourth after being edged out by Desmares in the small final.
