Domestic news reports said that the collapse happened in the early hours of Friday and the two-day search was continuing in an effort to free the workers.


The rescue efforts started right after the collapse and rescue teams heard knocking sounds from inside the tunnel.


The workers were part of a team working on the construction of a second railway line from Liupanshui to Zhanyi, reports said.


The railway line runs from Guiyang, capital of Guizhou province to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province.
