Utomo walks almost every day through her village South of Yogyakarta.

She carriers her bamboo basket and a banana-branch stick,

It´s used to display her toys in a local market, about 15 kilometers away.

Since her husband passed away, when she was 40 years old, Utomo has been making the toys and selling them for about ten U-S cents per toy.

On good days\ she earns more than three U-S dollars a day.

Utomo walks from her house at dawn to the nearest market or villages and displayed the toys for children.

None of her own three children followed her into toy making.

They now live with their own families.
Still, her children appreciate her efforts to conserve traditional toy making.

Some people buy the toys from her because of her old age.

Still others want to honour her creations.

She admits children, these days, prefer to play electronic games and robots toys.
