Villagers face the grim task of retrieving victims´ bodies.

They carried many victims away from the landslide on stretchers and piled bodies up on the ground.

Residents have been using shovels and hoes - as well as their bare hands - to search for their buried neighbours.

Earth movers and other equipment have been delayed from reaching the area.

It´s been raining in Uganda for much of the past two months.

That´s despite the fact there is usually a dry period between rainy seasons.
Forecasters say rains in the region are expected to intensify.
