Ambassador Tan said he has to return to Ankara, following a decision by the Turkish government.

Tan´s remarks came after the House committee acknowledged Armenian allegations made against the Ottoman Empire of 19-15.

Speaking in Washington, Tan said I will consult with my government, and you will see how and when I will return here, after I get necessary instructions and according to course of developments"

Tan expressed deep sorrow over adoption of the resolution on what Turkey considers so-called Armenian allegations.

Also at the news conference, a lawmaker from the opposition Republican People´s Party reacted to the resolution.

Sukru Elekdag said, "they won with only one vote,  however I think they have not won it in a proud way and they have lost much from their prestige, esteem and pride."

Elekdag said the U-S. administration had not strongly objected to the resolution.

He said, "If the administration had extended a little bit more support to us, this resolution would have been prevented." .

Elekdag said it is wrong to show reaction and flare up at first, but it is important to retain the reaction.

Mithat Melen of Turkey´s Nationalist Movement Party also travelled to Washington to lobby against the resolution.

Melen said Turkey should not make urgent decisions, but should decide on its reaction, after thinking calmly about situation.
