Foreign Minister welcomes EU role in region
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that the problems prevailing in the Middle East could only be settled through dialogue.

Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu welcomes European Union role in Middle East

Davutoglu, who attended the informal meeting of EU Foreign Ministers in Spain, known as "Gyminch", made comments to reporters after the meeting.


Davutoglu said Turkey was ready to do everything within its reach to open channels of dialogue in the middle east.


Davutoglu welcomed the recent active role in the Middle East assumed by the EU, noting that it could contribute more.


He said the EU wanted to work closely with Turkey in this respect, noting that Turkey would share its views and perspective with the EU.


Davutoglu said he would soon have a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union and Vice-President of the European Commission Catherie Ashton.
